Arsenal regain top spot as Man City stumble in title race
FootballErling Haaland: Manchester City Star Misses Open Opportunities v Nottingham, Title Advantage Shifts to Arsenal
- Erling Haaland missed two glaring opportunitis to win the game for Manchester City against Nottingham Forrest
- Manchester City dropped two valuable points in that title race to hand the advantage back to Arsenal
- Haaland has scored 26 goals this season alone but couldn't convert two close-range opportunities
Erling Haaland uncharacteristically missed two open chances as Manchester City were forced to settle for a draw away to Nottingham Forrest.
The defending champions were frustrated by a resilient Forrest side to shift the title advantage back to Arsenal. Mikel Arteta's side had earlier beaten Aston Villa 4-2 in the early kick-off match.
Having beaten them in the first leg, City looked destined to complete a double over Steven Cooper's charges as Bernanrdo Silva powered them in front four minutes before half time.
Pep Guardiola looked to take the game over the line with the insurance of a second goal. Their best bet to getting the goals would most have certainly fell on Haaland, who has taken the league by storm this season.

Haaland's goals this season
The Norwegian striker is already up to 26 goals after 23 league games. However, he failed to beat Keylor Navas in the Forrest goal. He first shot the first attempt on the crossbar before blazing the reboud over the bar in close range.
To make matters worse, Forrest equalised a few minutes later after January acquisition Chris Wood tapped into an empty net after splendid work from Morgan Gibbs White.
Haaland's chances might come back to haunt City as their title defence took a stumble despite seemingly getting it back on track after beating Arsenal on Wednesday. The Gunners now have a two-point lead with a game in hand.
Haaland matches Aguero's record
Sports Brief had earlier reported that Haaland took his tally to 26 in just 21 games for the season. These astronomical stats made City’s summer signing clock another milestone.
