While it’s safe to say his performances were below par for Chelsea, a tipping point was when he was berated by ex Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho for an underwhelming performance during one of the games he featured in a Blues’ shirt.
The game in question was against Norwich City in 2014, and according to Mikel, the dress-down from Mourinho was so intense, it left Salah in tears.
“I think [Salah] was having a bad game and then obviously Mourinho came in and ripped into him, massively ripped into him.” Mikel told Dubai Eye, as quoted on The Sun.
“He was in tears, and what happened is [Mourinho] didn't let him back onto the pitch in the second half. He took him off. “
Mourinho’s cut-throat personality
Mourinho is no stranger to falling out with players.
He infamously fell out with Paul Pogba at Manchester United before eventually getting sacked at Old Trafford in 2018.
