  • Kylian Mbappe has confessed that he should not have played in Paris Saint-Germain's 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich
  • The 24-year-old made a substitute appearance for PSG after initially being ruled out of the Bayern game through injury
  • Mbappe is expected to be fully fit for the reverse fixture in Munich when Bayern hosts PSG at the Allianz Arena on March 8

Kylian Mbappe sparked Paris Saint-Germain back to life, after coming on as a second-half substitute in their Champions League round-of-16 first-leg defeat against Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old was initially ruled out of the encounter after suffering an ankle injury but was forced to come off the bench after the Parisians went a goal down.

According to 90MIN, Mbappe has now conceded that he probably should not have rushed himself back into action ahead of his scheduled return date.

“I’m not 100% but I felt good enough to try to help my friends and play a little bit. Basically, I shouldn’t have come back.”

The French star is expected to be fully recovered ahead of the return leg on March 8 as PSG hopes to overturn their first-leg defeat at the Allianz Arena.

Mbappe optimistic despite loss to Bayern

Meanwhile, Mbappe still believes there's still hope for PSG to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League despite losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich, Marca reports.

The French side travel to Germany on March 8 and will need to be at their very best if they are to get a positive result at the Allianz Arena against the Bavarians.

A loss for PSG will mean failing to progress beyond the round of 16 for the second consecutive season, after faltering versus Real Madrid at the same stage last term.

Mbappe jibes his PSG teammate

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on the fallout between Mbappe and Neymar reportedly reached new lows after PSG suffered another embarrassing loss to Bayern Munich.

The Parisians saw their Champions League chances hit a roadblock after they were subdued 1-0 by the Bavarians in front of their supporters at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe has now aimed a subtle dig at Neymar in a post-match interview, insinuating that PSG has a chance of overcoming the defeat if everyone eats and sleeps well.
