Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is confident that his side can still qualify for the next stage of the Champions League despite losing to Bayern Munich.

The French Champions suffered a 1-0 home defeat to the Bavarians on Tuesday night, courtesy of a sublime volley from Kingsley Coman.

It was the second time in three years that Coman has haunted his former club after netting the winner against the Ligue 1 outfit in the 2020 final.

Mbappe, who was not a 100% fit, came on as a substitute in the 57th minute and had an instant impact on the game.

The Frenchman found the back of the net on two occasions but both goals were disallowed for offside as his entrance changed the dynamics of the game at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe's reactions

“You have to be positive, with what I’ve seen, there’s room. We have seen that we were able to put Bayern in difficulty. All our players must be in good health and we will go there in Munich to do it (qualify),” via PSG Report.

Why was Mbappe's goal disallowed?

The decision ruffled a few feathers, but the latest image proves referee Michael Oliver had his call correct.

The image shows Nuno Mendes was marginally offside before he received the through ball from Neymar and eventually teed off Mbappe who finished with aplomb.

Despite the defeat to Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain youngster Warren Zaire Emery made history as he became the youngest starter in a Champions League knockout game ever, Sports Brief earlier reported.

Emery started for the French side as they took on Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 clash in France.

Born in 2006, Warren becomes the youngest starter in the history of Champions League knockout games.
