Rubbing salt in Vidal's wounds, Los Blancos cruised to a record-extending fifth Club World Cup triumph, beating Al-Hilal 5-3 in the final, per Football Espana.
Nonetheless, the 35-year-old grabbed a bronze medal as a consolation after Flamengo edged Egyptian side, Al Ahly in the third-place play-off.
Vidal spent two seasons with FC Barcelona, winning the La Liga and the Supercopa de Espana, before joining Inter Milan and then Flamengo in what has been a journeyman career.

The South American hot-head developed 'hatred' for Real Madrid on the back of his harsh send-off, during a Champions League semi-final tie during his days at Bayern Munich.
Following his exit, the club rode on to beat Bayern by an eventual 6-3 aggregate win.
