  • Arsenal were forced to a 1-1 draw against Brentford as Mikel Arteta’s side dropped more points
  • Leandro Trossard got his first goal for the Gunners in the 66th minute but the home side were pegged back eight minutes later

  • Mikel Arteta’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup and their recent Premier League game against Everton ended in defeat

Arsenal dropped more points in the Premier League title race as Mikel Arteta’s side endured a frustrating 1-1 draw against a resurgent Brentford side.

The draw left fans all saying the same thing as they taunted the Gunners for their three-game winless run.

In truth The Bees deserved a point from the Emirates after a spirited performance that saw them hit the woodwork in the first half courtesy of Ivan Toney.

The Gunners, who are runaway league leaders this season, were heavy favourites for the encounter and deservedly took the lead after Trossard struck at the back post a mere four minutes after coming off the bench.

But Brentford, for all their hard work in the game, found the equalizer as Toney headed in Christian Norgaard's cross after other teammates did well to keep an attack alive in the Arsenal box.

At full time, fans noted a particular trend with Arsenal, who are winless since beating Manchester United on January 22.

“Lost to Man City in the FA Cup, lost to Everton, and have now dropped points against Brentford. This is the Arsenal we love” One fan hilariously declared.
“This is the Arsenal we know. Welcome back Gunners. The elephant is descending slowly” Another user identified as @EricErikay added,
“This arsenal purple patch will be remembered but it’s time to hand the trophy back to us,” @erlingexcelence

Arteta questions referees after Brentford draw

Sports Brief also reported on how Mikel Arteta was left frustrated by some refereeing decisions during the draw against Brentford.

The Gunners had initially taken the lead after Leandro Trossard scored his first goal for the club, but they were pegged back a couple of minutes later through Ivan Toney.

Replays appeared to show Ethan Pinnock, Brentford’s centre back in an offside position as he was blocking Arsenal’s Gabriel when a free kick was floated into the Arsenal penalty area.

Speaking after the game, Arteta claimed he watched the footage back and it looked like a clear offside.
