FootballErik ten Hag: Manchester United Boss Comically Refuses to Pay Fine After Showing Up Late
- Erik ten Hag was found on the wrong side of his rules when he showed up late for a press conference
- The Manchester United Head Coach is known for his strict adherence to rules and regulations
- He has transformed the Red Devils to title contenders during his short time in England
If there is one thing Erik ten Hag has perfected during his short stay at Manchester United is discipline. He seems to understand the concept that you might be the richest club in the world that has the most talented players but without discipline, it's all in vain.
For a club that hasn't won silverware in six seasons, ten Hag arrived in Manchester with the promise of turning around the club's fortunes.
He might have started his reign on a rocky path but six months later, his efforts are visibly showing with Manchester United an outside contender for the Premier League title. They are also 90 minutes away from ending their trophy drought when they play Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final later this month.
Issues with Ronaldo and Rashford
Ten Hag's code of conduct has no exceptions. So much so that even Cristiano Ronaldo in all his glory of being one of the GOATs fell out with him due to disciplinary issues. Marcus Rashford was also dropped after he missed a team meeting due to oversleeping.

At that time Rashford was the most in-form player in the world. Still is. But ten Hag did not care. He was late, broke the code of conduct, and had to pay. Luke Shaw later admitted that players were no longer allowed to do what they felt like at the club.
This created comic relief when ten Hag appeared late for a press conference ahead of their game against Leeds. The former Ajax manager tried to explain that it was a technical problem that he couldn't do anything about.

FootballBut the journalists did not want to hear him out. After all, what is good for the goose must be good for the gander. A fine was suggested but ten Hag wiggled his way out of it albeit in a hilarious manner.
Guess the goose doesn't have to suffer the same consequences as the gander.
United play a managerless Leeds who sacked Jesse Marsch on Monday. A win takes them level on points with their cross-city rivals Manchester City.
Clubs want Manchester City kicked out
Talking of Manchester City. Sports Brief had earlier reported that Manchester City are currently treading on difficult ground, with Premier League clubs reportedly supporting the decision to investigate them over financial wrongdoing.
These clubs also want the defending champions to be kicked out of the league - if found guilty of charges they are being accused of.
The Premier League has charged Man City with more than 100 counts of financial breaches. The case has been handed over to an independent commission, which is now set to determine the legality of the charges and take the necessary action.
