The Premier League, also known as the Premiership, started in 1992, and consists of 20 clubs. Some are owned by individual investors while others are under the ownership of organizations. Here are the Premier League owners and the clubs they own.

The Premier League scene consistently features mergers and acquisitions in a bid to have the highest and most strategic stake in the clubs. Here is a ranked list of all the Premier League owners and their net worth:

20. Matthew Benham - Brentford ($307 million)

Matthew Behnam is a professional sports gambler who holds a degree in Physics from the University of Oxford. He worked as an investment banker and insurance expert until 2001 when he joined Premier Bet as a trader working under Tony Bloom.

The two fell out after a short while and Benham started Smartodds, a betting company, in 2004. Three years later, in 2007, Brentford FC faced a financial crisis and fans came together to buy it. Unfortunately, they were unable to pay off a loan which had been granted by an anonymous financier.

Being a long-term Brentford fan, Matthew took the chance to buy off the club fully in 2012. He took on a unique approach of onboarding young players rejected by other clubs. Benham also owns Danish side FC Midtjylland and Matchbook.

19. Andrea Radrizzani - Leeds United ($414 million)

Andrea is an Italian businessman who purchased 50% of Leeds United in January 2017. He later purchased the remaining shares from former co-owner Massimo Cellino. 49ers Enterprises, who own the San Francisco 49ers (NFL), own 44% of the club.

Radrizzani made his fortune from media investments since 1999. He founded Aser Ventures in 2015, an investment firm dealing with sports, media, and entertainment. Additionally, he is the chairman and founder of Eleven Sports, and has been linked with other leagues worldwide, including Serie A and Bundesliga. He has also invested in Formula One.

18. Evangelos Marinakis - Nottingham Forest ($608 million)

Evangelos is part of the Marinakis business family. The Greek entrepreneur is in the shipping business and owns two yachts, Amore Mio and Amore Mio II. He is the president and owner of Olympiakos FC, a Greece soccer club.

The businessman bought Nottingham Forest in 2017 at £50 million, becoming the majority shareholder. Marinakis is also a media investor who owns Mega Channel and One Channel.

Maxim is one of the richest Russian premier league owners. He bought ''The Cherries'' in 2011 at an estimated $1 million. However, he allegedly sold 25% stake to Peak 6 Investments in 2015. However, through his company, AFCB Enterprises Limited, he later reacquired full ownership.

Demin is also the proprietor of the Russian industrial holding company called the Denim Group. Additionally, he has investments in energy, metallurgy, and real estate. He is a shareholder in Buryatia Energy Company which runs several power plants in Russia.

16. Tony Bloom - Brighton & Hove Albion ($1.57 billion)

Tony is an English sports betting expert, entrepreneur, and professional poker player. His prowess in poker earned him the nickname ''The Lizard.'' He won the Australian Poker Championships in 2004, earning approximately £180,000. His total income from the game is over $2.2 million.

Bloom first invested in Brighton & Hove Albion in the early 2000s but the initial amount is undisclosed. However, in 2009, he injected £93 million to the team and became the chairman. Tony's efforts brought back the team into the Premier League in 2016/17 after 34 years.

15. Farhad Moshiri - Everton ($1.81 billion)

Farhad Moshiri is a British-Iranian businessperson who has invested in various industries including metal, mining, technology, internet and telecommunications. His professional career started in 1979 when he joined Ernst & Young, but he later moved to Deloitte.

Farhad also worked as the CEO of Europe Steel Limited. Moshiri was previously a shareholder in Arsenal Football Club but sold his shares in 2016 and became the major shareholder in Everton. According to The Guardian, Farhad put up the club for sale at an offer of £500 million. The investor is considering a minority or majority sale.

14. David Sullivan & David Gold - West Ham United ($1.93 billion)

Sullivan and Gold, the West Ham United owners are among the richest Premier League owners. The partners made money from adult magazines and film. They also co-owned the Daily Sport & Sunday Sport newspapers.

The pair is one of the best Premier League owners. Previously, they owned Birmingham City for about 10 years before buying West Ham in 2010. Sullivan has a 51% stake in the club while Gold owns 35%.

John Henry is one of the richest American Premier League owners. The businessman and investor is the founder and chairman of John W. Henry and Company Inc, an investment company. He owns Fenway Sports Group, a sports management company.

Additionally, Henry owns iRacing.com Motorsport. He purchased Liverpool in 2010, and also owns the Boston Red Sox (NFL) alongside Tom Werner.

12. Joshua Harris - Crystal Palace ($3.49 billion)

Joshua is a private equity investor who owns Apollo Global Management. He is a sports enthusiast who owns the English Eagles, NHL's New Jersey Devils, and NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. In December 2015, the University of Pennsylvania alumnus acquired 18% stake in Crystal Palace.

11. Gao Jisheng - Southampton ($3.73 billion)

Gao Jisheng is a Chinese billionaire and the owner of Lander Sports Development Corporation. Founded in 1995, the company previously dealt with property, but is now invested in the sports industry.

Previously, Jisheng served his country for seven years under the Shanghai People's Armed Police. He acquired 80% stake in Southampton in 2017 at $252 million. However, according to Sportspromedia.com, Gao sold his stake to Sport Republic for approximately $134.5 million.

The Glazers are a popular American family who purchased the ''Red Devils'' in 2003. The original purchase was done by Malcom Glazer, who died after suffering a stroke in 2006. His sons, Avram and Joel, took over the running of the enterprise, and they also have personal investments elsewhere.

Malcom sold watches during his early career days before moving to real estate, spreading his investments across USA, and later purchasing three TV stations. The Glazers also own NFL's Tampa Bay Bucaneers, which Joel Glazer oversees.

9. Joe Lewis - Tottenham Spurs ($4.7 billion)

British business mogul, Joe Lewis, features prominently on the list of richest Premier League owners. He is the majority shareholder of Tavistock Group, which he took over from his father. The firm was initially known as Tavistock Banqueting, offering catering services.

Lewis has also made a fortune worth an estimated $1 billion through art collection. He is listed as the 43rd richest person in the United Kingdom. Joe acquired Tottenham Spurs through the ENIC group, where he is the main shareholder, at a whopping £150 million.

Aiyawatt is a Thai businessman who also serves as the CEO of King Power International Group, a travel retail company, based in Bangkok. He took over this empire from his late father, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who passed away in 2018 after a helicopter crash.

In 2020, Forbes listed the Leicester City owner as one of the five youngest billionaires in Asia. He bought the club in 2010, and under his leadership, the team won the Premier League in 2016.

7. Nassref Sawiris - Aston Villa ($6.02 billion)

Aston Villa owner, Nassref Sawiris, is also on our top 10 list of Premier League owners. The Egyptian tycoon is the CEO of Orascom Construction Industries, which he joined as a construction activist in 1982.

Additionally, Nassref founded a special-purpose acquisition company, Avanti Acquisition Corp, in 2020. He bought a 55% stake in Aston Villa in 2018, and also owns a stake in Adidas.

6. Guo Guangchang - Wolves ($6.26 billion)

Guo, a Chinese businessman, is the co-founder and chairman of Fosun International Limited, an insurance-focused investment group, since 1994. Together with his friends, he founded Guanbxin Technology Development Company, which was the first to try out scientific market research in China.

Guangchang purchased Wolves from its previous owner Steve Morgan in 2016 for approximately £45 million. He also has interests in mining, pharmaceuticals, and tourism.

5. Shahid Khan - Fulham ($6.99 billion)

Khan is a Pakistani-born sports investor who purchased Fulham FC in 2013. He also owns NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. In addition, he co-owns All Elite Wrestling with his son Tony Khan. The Fulham owner is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) College of Engineering (Class of 1971).

4. Stan Kroenke - Arsenal ($ 8.19 billion)

Stan Kroenke is famously known for his company Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, a holding company that owns NFL's Los Angeles Rams, Colorado Avalance (Major League Soccer), and Los Angeles Guerillas of the Call of Duty outfit.

Stan also owns NBA's Denver Nuggets, NHL's Avalance, Colorado Mammoth, and the Los Angeles Gladiators of the Overwatch. The American business mogul first bought Arsenal shares in 2008 before increasing his shares to 62% in 2011.

3. Todd Boehly - Chelsea ($13.13 billion)

Todd is one of the Premier League richest owners who acquired Chelsea FC from Roman Abramovich, the former Russian owner who was forced to sell it after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He purchased the club for approximately £4.2 billion.

In addition, Boehly is the CEO of Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and a controlling board member of Elridge Industries, a private investment company. Todd also has a 20% stake at the Los Angeles Dodgers and part of the Los Angeles Sparks.

Sheikh Mansour purchased Manchester City in September 2008. Known fully as Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, he is the Deputy Prime Minister of the U.A.E. Additionally, he owns the Abu Dhabi United Group, which purchased the Premier League club.

Sheikh Mansour is one of the richest Premier League owners in 2023 and owns other sports entities, including New York City FC of Major League Soccer, Melbourne City FC, and Yokohama F. Marinos. The Manchester City acquisition saw some human rights groups accuse him of 'sportswashing.'

1. Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund - Newcastle United ($385.42 billion)

The Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (P.I.F) invests on behalf of the country's government. They purchased Newcastle United in 2021 at $409 million from Mike Ashley, who owned it for 14 years.

The purchase by Saudi is seen as part of the country's plan to become the largest wealth fund worldwide by 2030. As of 2023, the fund manages over $430 billion.
