Two big Nigerian stars, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen have both been nominated for the January Player of the Month award in the Serie A on the back of their impressive performances.
The two Super Eagles stars are currently the shining lights of the Italian top flight, as they keep netting the goals for their clubs in all competitions.
Interestingly, Osimhen and Lookman are also topping the Serie A goalscoring chart, with one of them being tipped to end up winning the league Golden Boot.
In history, no Nigerian player has ever won the coveted goal award in Italy.

According to the report by Complete Sports, Osimhen has scored five goals for Napoli in the first month of 2023 alone.
What about Lookman?
Lookman, on the other hand, was also in stunning form to score five goals as well for Atalanta.
As things stand now in an interesting race, Osimhen is the leading scorer in Serie A with 14 goals, while his compatriot has registered 12 goals.
Speaking to Sports Brief on who he thinks should win the award, Nigerian sports reporter, Tunde Samsudeen stated Lookman deserved it.
''Victor and Lookman have been doing well this season in Italy and I'm sure all Nigerians are happy with their performances, even though I want Lookman to win the POTM for January.''

FootballEarlier, Sports Brief reported on Lookman stating emphatically that his parents had nothing to do with his decision to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, instead of England's national team.
