Former Ghana FA Boss Blames Age Cheating for Black Galaxies' Shocking CHAN Exit

• Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has blamed over-age players for Ghana's CHAN exit
• The home-based national team failed to reach the semi-final after defeat to Niger
• The Black Galaxies were beaten 2-0 in the quarter-final last Saturday in Oran

Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe believes majority of the Black Galaxies players sent to Algeria for the CHAN tournament were over the age of 35.

Ghana's home-based team was shockingly knocked out of the tournament by minnows, Niger after a 2-0 defeat in the quarter-final in Oran.

According to Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe, players of the Black Galaxies struggled to match the pace and stamina of the Nigeriens because they were over-age.

"I can say that our biggest problem is age cheating. We have been doing it for years and we are now seeing the effect. Modern football is about speed and stamina, and the younger ones are those who can do that," he told Asempa FM as quoted by Pulse.

Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe claimed 75 percent of the players were above 35 years old and said his claims could be verified using MRI scanning.

"They look even old if you look at them in the face. Look at the various countries who participated in the tournament, even in our game against Niger we looked older than them and it showed in the performance. Let's look at this age of cheating carefully and put a stop to it."

Although the CHAN tournament is not an age restricted competition, the Hearts of Oak board member's claims are nonetheless shocking.

The Black Galaxies will have to wait for another two years to make an attempt at the elusive trophy.

Meanwhile, hosts Algeria, Madagascar, Senegal and Niger will battle for the ultimate prize.

Ghana knocked out of CHAN

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Ghana being eliminated from CHAN in Algeria, after a shock 2-0 defeat to Niger on Saturday evening.

An own goal from Konadu Yiadom and a stunning strike from Soumana Hainikoye ensured the minnows went through to the semi-finals.

The Black Galaxies looked shaky at the start of the game with Augustine Agyapong nearly scoring an own goal, but for the intervention of goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.
