FootballAustralian Open: Ex Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel Attends Elena Rybakina’s Match Amid Spurs Links
- Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was spotted at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne
- Tuchel is one of the many tennis fans who are in Australia for the first tennis Grand Slam of the year
- His future in football remains unclear as the Champions League-winning manager continues with his world tour
Thomas Tuchel was so unprepared for his Chelsea sacking that he decided to take a long sabbatical from football to consider his next options.
Openings have come and gone but the German has instead chosen to embark on a worldwide tour. He has been spotted in a number of countries since his dismissal by Todd Boehly, the latest being in Melbourne for the Australian Open.
Tuchel was in Australia to watch Elena Rybakina beat Victoria Azarenka and book her place in the final.
Tuchel and tennis
The German Head Coach is said to be obsessed with tennis. During his time in West London, he made his defenders train with tennis balls to stop shirt pulling and shape pitches into diamonds to encourage diagonal runs as quoted by ESPN.

It's therefore only fair that he flew to Australia to catch the first Grand Slam of the year as questions continue to linger over his next workstation.
Reports had initially indicated that he was ready to become England's boss, but Gareth Southgate is set to stay put until after the 2024 Euros. Recent news linked him with the Tottenham Hotspur job as Antonio Conte's long-term future remains unclear.
Tuchel in Kenya
Earlier, Sports Brief had reported that Tuchel has reportedly been spotted in Kenya as he continues with his break from football.
Tuchel has been seen in different countries ever since he was sacked by the Blues in early September. He is yet to land a job at a new club.

Australian Open
The 49-year-old watched Rybakina breeze past two-time champion Azarenka in sets of 7-6, 6-3 to set up a final against Aryna Sabalenka on Saturday.
Rybakina will be hoping to follow up another Grand Slam victory after winning the Wimbledon last year. Fifth seed Sabalenka beat Magda Linette to reach her first final.
In the men's competition, there is a high probability that 21-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. Djokovic plays American Tommy Paul in the semi-final while Tsitsipas squares up with Karen Khachanov.
But for a tournament that has already delivered many upsets, hold your horses on that one. We might just see a Tsitispas vs Paul in the final.
