It is not always long after a player starts shining at a mid-table club that top tier clubs come knocking at their door for a potential transfer, and that is the case of defensive midfielder, Moises Caicedo.

He has been impressive at the heart of Brighton & Hove Albion's midfield since joining in 2021, and Premier League giants, Chelsea and Liverpool are already inquiring about a move to bolster their respective defences.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea lodged a formal bid of £55-million which the Seagulls swiftly rejected, as they value their prized asset at around £75-mil, and would reportedly accept nothing less to part with the Ecuadorian in January.

Caicedo could leave says De Zerbi

According to Football365, Chelsea has raided Brighton many times this season, signing Graham Potter and his backroom staff, left-back Marc Cucurella, and transfer expert Paul Winstanley, but the Blues don't want to stop there.

Speaking ahead of the match against Leicester City, as quoted by Liverpool Echo, head coach Roberto De Zerbi did not rule out a move for the midfielder in the current window.

''I think it's very important for us if he finishes the season with us, but in the transfer market, it's difficult to get one answer. When there are some bigger teams wanting our player, it's good news for us. The best solution is he can finish the season with us, but it's possible he can leave for another team,'' he said.

Brighton reject Chelsea's Caicedo bid

Sports Brief earlier reported that Brighton rejected a £55m by Chelsea for Caicedo, which the Seagulls believes to be below the valuation of the player they signed for £6-mil in 2021.

It is likely the Blues return with an improved offer to sign the Ecuadorian midfielder, in order to improve their defensive options ahead of possible departures in January.

Liverpool are also interested in Caicedo, but have reportedly cooled their interest to instead pursue Matheus Nunes and Jude Bellingham in the summer window.
