Son of Ghana's 2006 World Cup Star Signs Contract with FC Midtjylland

  • Malik Pimpong has signed a deal with FC Midtjylland's U15 side.
  • The son of former Ghana international, Razak Pimpong, joined the club from the U13.
  • Pimpong also played for Midtjylland and was a member of Ghana's squad at the 2006 World Cup.

Malik Pimpong, son of former Ghana international Razak Pimpong, has signed a first contract with Danish giants FC Midtjylland.

The 15-year-old joins the U15 side after excelling at U13 level with the same club.

His father, Pimpong snr spent most of his career with the club and it seems his son is set to continue the legacy.

Although, Malik is just 15, his technique, goal-scoring ability and a winning mentality caught the attention of manager Flemming Broe.

"Malik is a great talent who has a good athletic package. He is technically skilled and can score goals. At the same time, he has a good winning mentality, and we are convinced that there is something exciting hidden in him," he said as quoted by the club's website.
"Now it's about him building an even higher base level. He is still young and there are many things to work on, but he has good prerequisites in terms of being able to take big steps in the next few years," he added.

Meanwhile, Pimpong Jnr shared his excitement after sealing a deal to join the U15 side.

"FC Midtjylland has always been my favorite club, and therefore I am incredibly proud to sign this contract. There is a lot of hard work behind it, and now it's about becoming an even bigger profile on my team," he said.
"I see myself as a dangerous striker who loves to score goals. At the same time, I can cover several of the offensive positions in the team. One of my focus areas is to become even more skilled at taking extra runs and sprints for the team, and I will work on improving that in the future."

Amuzu switches nationality

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Anderlecht winger Francis Amuzu has reportedly completed his nationality switch and will be available to play for the Black Stars of Ghana.

Born in Ghana, he left for Belgium at a young age, representing the youth teams of the Red Devils.

However, Amuzu has decided to pledge his international future to Ghana.
