2022 World Cup winner, Lionel Messi is reportedly keen to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to extend his contract.
The veteran penned a two-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions after ending his 17-year relationship with Barcelona in 2021, following the Catalan club’s failure to renew his contract.
PSG are now set to continue talks with Messi following his return from the World Cup with Argentina, in a bid to keep him out of the claws of Inter Miami and Barca.
Messi’s contract with the French side ends on June 30, 2023, but PSG have the option to extend it by a further year.

According to Marca, the star's father and agent, Jorge Messi will travel to Paris in the coming weeks to meet with the club directors, as they bid to agree on the final details about the duration of the contract and wages.
Messi's new salary
As also reported by Marca, Messi will be offered another two-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions, in a bid to shut down the rumours of an impending return to Barcelona.
The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner currently earns about 30 million euros annually after taxes.
The report further indicates that Messi's worth has skyrocketed after winning the World Cup, meaning PSG will be compelled to offer him a pay increase.
More revenue for PSG
As reported by El Economista, cited by Marca, the Parc des Princes side's revenue saw a drastic increase in Messi's debut season with the club, to around 700 million Euros.

The future of the Argentine captain is still up in the air, following revelations that Barcelona are yet to reach an agreement with his camp for a summer move.
Messi has been heavily linked with a return to Camp Nou, as the club chief Joan Laporta and current manager Xavi have both spoken about the 35-year-old’s return.
Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Barcelona are yet to make an offer for Messi and no agreement has been reached, Sports Brief has reported.
