Former Nigerian champions, Akwa United, on Sunday evening, 8 January, began their campaign in the new football league season with a 2-0 defeat at home against Bendel Insurance.
Insurance made their return to the topflight after three seasons, and they stunned United in Uyo to record their first ever win at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The game was not without its controversies after Insurance's first goal against the hosts generated diverging views on the social media as many pundits and fans claimed that it should not have stood.
Why are they against it?

It was the first time Insurance have scored two goals in an NPFL game since they lost 3-2 to Zamfara United in October 2007.
