It is believed that while there is no agreement between United and Onuachu yet, club manager Erik ten Hag is said to be a fan of the 28-year-old.

Onuachu has been in prolific form for Genk this season, boasting 14 goals in 16 Jupiler Pro League appearances, plus one goal in the cup.

Genk signed the Nigerian from Danish side Midtjylland in 2019, where he had scored 74 goals in 181 games.

Onuachu on Aston Villa’s radar

Meanwhile, English Premier League outfit Aston Villa are reportedly on the trail of Onuachu, who has been in fine form this season.

The January transfer window is expected to be interesting for the Nigerian, as a number of teams have already indicated their interest.

The Villans are looking to add more firepower to their attack, despite new manager Unai Emery having Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings at his disposal.

Osimhen equals George Weah’s record

Sports Brief earlier reported that Victor Osimhen equalled a goals record set by Liberian legend, George Weah in the Italian Serie A.

The Super Eagles striker was in action and scored, as Napoli beat Sampdoria 2-0 to extend their lead in the league standings to seven.

Osimhen’s goal means the 24-year-old becomes the second African player to score 10+ goals in three different Serie A seasons, after Weah with AC Milan in 1995/96, 1996/97 and 1997/98.
