It appears that age-cheating will never go away in African football.
Another scandal involving the practice has arisen. Cameroon is the latest nation to be subjected to the embarrassment of bending the rules in this fashion.
SportNewsAfrica reported that 21 out of the 30 players in the under-17 national team were caught out during MRI scans, as the Cubs prepared for a Central African Football Federations' Union (UNIFFAC) tournament.
The competition serves as qualifiers for the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be hosted by Algeria in April.

A Cameroon Football Association (Fécafoot) statement read:
"The unfortunate ones were immediately ejected from the Cubs' den and measures have been taken for their immediate replacement. This action is the result of strict instructions given by the president in order to put an end to the fiddling on the civil status (of players) that have, in the past, tarnished the image of the umbrella body of Cameroonian soccer."
The association's president, Samuel Eto'o has a mandate including prioritising the fight against age-cheating.
Age-cheating bombshell rocks Liberia

The under-17 men's national team of Liberia has been thrown out of the qualifiers for the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, set to take place in April 2023 in Algeria.
Two players in the team reportedly failed an MRI scan, which was undertaken in line with regulations by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
