The South African jokester went out of his way to annoy his Merseyside arch-rivals by playing Faith Evans' 'Missing You', Tamia's 'Officially Missing You' and Aaliyah's 'Miss You'. This was not a particularly subtle dig at Nunez, who blew more opportunities with the goalposts at his mercy.

An Ibrahim Konate own goal and Yoane Wissa goal put the Bees into a quick-fired two-nil lead. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian appeared to have dragged the Reds back into the match, but Bryan Mbeumo put paid to these hopes late in the match. Liverpool remained in sixth place, with Brentford moving to within two of them in seventh spot.
