Jamie Carragher is among those that were critical of the move, and the former Liverpool defender threw some mighty jibes at Ronaldo over the move.
It is well known that Carragher is not Ronaldo’s favourite person, and the Portuguese star recently blanked him during a live coverage of a football match.
This was after Carragher had claimed in his analysis that Manchester United would be better off competing without Ronaldo.
In a Sky Sports coverage on Friday, Ronaldo’s transfer was discussed by Carragher and CR7’s former teammate Gary Neville.
“Yeah, I mean in some ways it’s a sad end for him, isn’t it really?” Carragher said as quoted on Sky Sports.
“Two of the greatest players of all time in [Lionel] Messi and Ronaldo…
“I mean, Ronaldo’s finished his career with an interview with Piers Morgan and Messi won the World Cup. It’s not the best way to go out, is it?”

Ronaldo did an interview in 2015 where he completely ruled out the possibility of playing the twilight years of his career in the MLS or Middle East.
At the time, the superstar was at the peak of his powers at Real Madrid, and was on course to becoming the top marksman in the Champions League.
