  • Football fans think that karma got to Ivan Toney after the Brentford striker picked up a serious injury
  • Toney has appeared to take an apparent dig at West Ham after he scored the opening goal at London Stadium
  • Karma, by definition, is the sum of a person's actions in this and previous states of existence, viewed as deciding their fate in the future existence

Do you believe in karma? That's what fans are thinking happened to Ivan Toney during an English Premier League against West Ham.

The Brentford striker was in action for his side at the London Stadium on December 30th. Despite a poor start, they turned the game on its head with Toney scoring his 12th goal of the campaign.

He then provided the assist for the second goal scored by Josh Dasilva to pile more pressure on David Moyes who is now winless in his last five games in the Premier League.

After scoring, Toney was spotted celebrating using the Irons sign in what has been construed as an apparent troll to the home side. West Ham's nickname is The Hammers which is often symbolised by two hammers crossing each other or two arms the way Toney celebrated.

However, Toney suffered a knee injury as he defended a corner. After lengthy treatment on the field, he left the pitch arms in his head. Head Coach Thomas Frank is hopeful the injury is not worse than initially feared.

"Toney celebrated that way then got carried off on a stretcher. Not sure who the joke is on."

Toney faces FA ban

This comes at a time when he is facing a possible lengthy ban if found guilty of the charges against him for allegedly breaching English Football Association rules on betting for professional footballers.

Sports Brief reported that Toney was charged with 262 incidents of breaching the rule and has until January 4, 2023, to respond to the allegations, which could result in a career-impacting ban if found guilty.

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has now rallied for his star striker, saying he is impressed by his mentality and delivery for the club despite the ongoing challenges in his personal life.
