  • Darwin Nunez has revealed that he would rather have Mohamed Salah over Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
  • Messi and Ronaldo have always been the perceived GOATs after dominating football for a decade plus
  • Salah is one of the best players in the Premier League and the highest-scoring African in the competition's history

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has added his voice to the eternal greatest of all-time debate by backing his teammate Mohamed Salah.

The debate has often been a preserve for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo with all the other stars outside contenders.

In a video doing rounds online, Nunez is seen signing some autographs alongside Salah. The former Benfica man is then backed into a corner to choose between Ronaldo or Messi.

He quickly laughs off that question and proceeds to watch his teammate engage a fan. After a few seconds of thinking, Nunez turns back to whoever asked the question and boldly says 'Salah.'

The duo have shared the dressing room for less than six months and although Nunez is still struggling to adapt, they have already shown signs of having a fruitful relationship.

Salah has been among the top performers in the Premier League since he rejoined from AS Roma. He is the reigning Golden Boot winner but has fallen off the pace this season with Manchester City's Erling Haaland beating strikers by a mile in his debut season.

The Egyptian has 7 goals in the Premier League this campaign while Nunez has five.

Klopp backs Nunez

Nunez has been under fire recently for missing a couple of clearcut chances. The Reds' most expensive signing is yet to his stride as he did in Portugal with Benfica.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recalled Robert Lewandowski’s early struggles as a young striker at Borussia Dortmund, as he likened the Poland international to Darwin Nunez.

This was taken as a subtle plea to fans to be patient with Nunez, who has made a fairly slow start to life at Anfield. Since his £65-million transfer from Benfica, the Uruguay international has struggled to find consistency, especially with his goal-scoring.
