Neymar had an unpalatable return to club action after he was sent off in PSG's 2-1 win against Strasbourg.

The Brazilian playmaker made his first appearance for Les Parisiens following his country's elimination in the World Cup quarter-finals.

He made an instant impact on his return, providing a tailor-measured cross for Marquinhos to break the game's deadlock.

He first received a caution after he caught Adrien Thomasson in the face, while trying to escape the midfielder’s relentless pressing in the 61st minute.

The 30-year-old former Barcelona attacker got himself in further trouble a minute later when he was found guilty of diving in the box, in a bid to simulate a penalty, per GOAL.

According to FanNation Futbol, Neymar's two quickfire yellow cards resulting in a red card, taking his red card total tally at PSG to five.

Neymar picks up red card

Neymar’s return to Paris Saint-Germain has not gone according to plan, Sports Brief earlier reported.

The Brazilian attacker was looking to put his World Cup woes behind him and focus on continued success with the French side, but instead made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Neymar was sent off in PSG’s game against RC Strasbourg, after he picked up two yellow cards in the space of two minutes.

Mbappe scores late for PSG

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kylian Mbappe scored an injury-time penalty, to seal a 2-1 win for PSG in the Ligue 1 on Wednesday.

The French star was back in action 10 days after scoring a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final, which was won by Argentina via penalties.

In contrast to his PSG teammate Neymar's awful outing, Mbappe found the back of the net although he did miss two clear chances.
