On Sunday, December 18, Drake was trending on social media after it emerged he had placed an audacious million-dollar bet for Argentina to beat France in the final.

At the time, Drake backed basketball giants Golden State Warriors to win in the NBA finals. GSW went on to lose 4-3 after leading 3-1, per Indian Express.

Years on and Drake has also been taking a dip in football betting, and left fans in hysterics after backing Argentina to win the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

In a thriller of a game, Argentina took a two-goal lead but were pegged back with 20 minutes of regular time to go thanks to a Kylian Mbappe brace in less than two minutes.

At the time, fans were sure the Drake curse was about to strike once again, especially since la albiceleste were in full control of the game prior to France’s equalizer.

But extra time drama saw Messi give Argentina the lead once again, but France got back in the game once again thanks to a Mbappe penalty.

Once the game went to a shootout, Argentina won 4-2 and fans instantly referenced the Drake curse afterwards.

Here are some reactions from fans:

“Messi is so good he broke the Drake curse”
“Messi didn't stop from winning the #FIFAWorldCup he also uncursed drake what a Goat”
“At least the Drake curse didn't sabotage Messi today,”
