Despite not representing Nigeria in the game of boxing, Anthony Joshua has stated clearly that he will support the West African nation ahead of England in the game of football.

Even though Joshua claimed that he knows little about soccer, but the former world boxing champion stated that he will choose Nigeria because of his heritage.

Joshua was born in the United Kingdom to Nigerian parents, and when he was young, he wanted to fight for Nigeria in boxing, but all efforts were futile.

"Well I don't even follow football but if I was to have to be Nigeria because in my household that's the Heritage.

"If you understand that culture you'll know why when I go see my auntie I go see my mom hello Auntie how are you really do you want to drink?

Anthony Joshua breaks down

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former two-time world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua decried what it means not to be a champion.

The 33-year-old lost his rematch to Oleksandr Usyk in August and remains without a belt, having lost his titles to the Ukrainian earlier in the year.

He has since been out of action as his promoter, Eddie Hearn continues searching for a formidable opponent to help rebuild his career.

The Briton has been quiet about when he will return to the ring, especially after talks between himself and Tyson Fury broke down.

In a recent interview with Matchroom Boxing, AJ disclosed that he is still bitter about his losses to Usyk but gave assurances he was rebuilding.
