Just like every decision we all make in our lives, the uncertainties that lie ahead can't be foreseen. Football transfers is an adventure full of hits and misses.

Footballers moving to bigger clubs either as a relatively unknown or an up and coming star face the burden of making it at the clubs and such was Dutch midfielder Donny Van de Beek.

Manchester United signed Van de Beek for £35m plus a potential add-on of £5m in September 2020, according to BBC. It was an emotional transfer for Ajax whose CEO and former United goalkeeper wrote an open letter to United about.

It however has not been a dream move at the Theatre of Dreams for the Dutch midfielder who helped Ajax reach the UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2019.

VdB on Old Trafford experience

Speaking on My Old Trafford experience on the club's official website, United's number 34 expressed how fans singing his name gives him confidence despite his underwhelming life.

“A full Old Trafford, I just can't explain it. It's just a nice experience and a nice feeling. It [the fans singing my name] always gives you confidence and a good feeling. Yeah, it's really nice and it gives you more energy. I just try to do my best and give everything and it gives a good feeling that they like me. I try to give them as much as possible that I have.” he said.

He scored on his debut in a 3-1 loss against Crystal Palace but after playing under multiple managers and not hitting the form, he found it hard to pick a favourite moment at Old Trafford.

“That’s a hard one. Many, many games – I can’t say really one. Most of the time, it’s an amazing atmosphere in the stadium, when we play at home. And the away fans as well. I have to say, every time, you can hear them, even in the game, and that’s a good sign and a nice feeling.” he added.

End of the road for VdB?

Sports Brief earlier reported that France midfielder Adrien Rabiot said he wants a Premier League move despite a failed transfer to Manchester United in the summer.

This could spell the end of the road for Van de Beek who Manchester United would be willing to move on if a good offer arrives.

Erik Ten Hag under whom the Dutch midfielder blossomed at Ajax has also found it hard to trust him with minutes amidst his struggles and injuries.
