  • Trent Alexander-Arnold has heaped praise on his England teammate Marcus Rashford, describing how versatile he is
  • The Manchester United forward is currently enjoying his best football and is the joint top scorer at the 2022 World Cup
  • Rashford is also enjoying a good season with United, contributing eight goals and three assists before the World Cup

Liverpool and England fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold has described England teammate Marcus Rashford as outstanding.

Rashford has been in terrific form for Manchester United this season and is currently the top scorer at the 2022 World Cup. Surprisingly, he is in contention for the Golden Boot in Qatar.

The 25-year-old had a turbulent 2021/22 season where he struggled for form, which resulted in intense criticism from fans. Most of them beseeched the club to sell the forward.

A few months later, a smooth pre-season, and an injury-free break, has seen Rashford play some of his best football. He is United's top scorer and 2020 World Cup, joint top scorer.

He is thriving under Erik ten Hag and has contributed eight goals and three assists this term, according to the Mirror.

Trent praises Rashford

Liverpool defender Alexander-Arnold has heaped praise on Rashford, explaining how the forward can be a handful for defenders.

Speaking on Talksport, the right-back said Rashford is a dangerous player and should get more praise from fans and the media.

“To have him on your team, you know what defenders are thinking. He’s an outstanding player. I think he’s underrated, I think he’s someone that can win games for club and country."

He added that his England teammate is an all-round player and, therefore, important for both club and country.

“When he steps onto the pitch, you’re thinking he’s going to use his pace, he’s going to use his speed to get in behind, to get at people. He’s skilful, he can score goals, he can create goals.”

If England are to go all the way in Qatar, Rashford will play a key role, as he's demonstrated. With United fighting for a place in the Champions League, Ten Hag will call upon him to create magic for the team.

Rashford makes history

Sports Brief earlier reported on Rashford making history for England with his stunning brace against Wales in the Three Lions' last group game.

The United star opened the scoring for England with a superbly executed freekick in the 50th minute.

He then latched onto a long pass from Kalvin Philips before cutting inside before a left-footed shot squeezed past Wales keeper Danny Ward.

That goal was England's 100th goal at the World Cup, and the 25-year-old will go down in history for achieving that milestone for his country.

He also became the first United player to score three goals at a major tournament for England since the iconic Sir Bobby Charlton at the 1966 World Cup.
