As reported by football insider Fabrizio Romano, Broja is out for the remainder of the season, as he requires surgery.

He will thus have to embark on a recovery process and hope to be good to go at the start of the 2023/24 season.

It is believed Broja has suffered from a ruptured cruciate ligament, as per Football London.

Potter’s squad problems

Broja’s injury adds to Potter’s list of problems, as the Chelsea boss continues to deal with the growing number of players out for the long-term.

The likes of Reece James, N’golo Kante, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell are also recuperating from various injuries.

Prior to Broja’s injury, French outlet Jeunes Footeux reported that Potter was in the market for a striker.

As it stands at the moment, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains the only available striking option for Chelsea.

Liverpool sign pre-contract with Fernandez

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Enzo Fernandez being sensationally linked to Liverpool, as the Reds continue to hunt for midfield options.

Since making his way to Estadio da Luz in June, Enzo has made a name for himself for both club and country.

In 24 appearances, the $12m (£10.3m) star has managed three goals and five assists in 24 appearances for Benfica, in performances that earned him a spot in Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina side.
