Cristiano Ronaldo is still recovering from Portugal's heartbreaking elimination from the 2022 World Cup after losing 1-0 to Morocco in the quarterfinal.

Ronaldo had a tournament to forget as he was dropped in the Round of 16 and against the Atlas Lions scoring just one goal, which was in the opening match against Ghana.

Ronaldo took to Instagram to post a cryptic message, days after he expressed his disappointment after their elimination.

After what was probably his last World Cup, the 37-year-old is at a crossroads. He has no club, and his decline is more evident than ever. There have been rumours that a Saudi Arabia club is after his signature.

He unceremoniously left Manchester United a few weeks ago after the no-holds-barred interview with journalist Piers Morgan.

He wanted to leave Old Trafford to play in the Champions League, but no deal arrived, forcing him to stay at the club.

With his World Cup dream almost certainly over, he now faces a tough decision regarding his future. Go to the Major League Soccer (MLS), Middle East or Asia or accept a lesser role in a Champions League team.

Ronaldo's telling message

On Monday, Ronaldo took to Instagram to post another cryptic message as he ponders his next move After Morocco stunned them, he said his World Cup dream ended.

"Winning a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career. Sadly, yesterday the dream ended."

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner broke down in tears after the final whistle was blown. He posted an ambiguous message on his Instagram story, per Sportskeeda.

"3 aspects of reality. Pain, uncertainty and constant work."

It remains to be seen the next steps the legendary forward will take.

Mbappe declares Ronaldo as G.O.A.T

Sports Brief earlier reported on France superstar Kylian Mbappe appearing to declare Ronaldo as the GOAT with an Instagram comment.

On Sunday, the Portuguese talisman broke his silence on his side's elimination from the World Cup with a lengthy social media post.

Incredibly, Mbappe was among thousands of fans who took some time to commiserate with the experienced striker.

In his comment, the PSG ace used the crown, high five and a goat emoji - likely to suggest Ronaldo is the greatest ever.
