Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has reacted to Nigeria’s 4-0 loss to Portugal in an international friendly shortly before the World Cup.
The Franco-German tactician expressed disappointment in the team, saying he failed to recognise some of his boys.
The Nigerian team were walloped 4-0 at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon by World Cup-bound Portugal.
Although it was an international friendly, Portugal dominated the West African side right from the very start of the game until the end.

A brace by Bruno Fernandes and a goal each by Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario condemned the Eagles to a heavy and embarrassing defeat.
Speaking to journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, the ex-Super Eagles coach Rohr said via Brila Fm:
"I watched the game against Portugal in Lisbon. I didn't recognize my players at all. I wasn't happy with how they played and the result.
"I never lost a match 4-0 to any team during my five years as coach."
Rohr expresses disappointment in African teams at World Cup
Meanwhile, former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has expressed disappointment with the performances of African teams at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Rohr, however, tipped defending champions France to go all the way in Qatar. He said, as per The Nation:
“We hope that France will be able to defend the trophy. If Mbappe and Giroud are playing very well then France can hope.”

Sports Brief earlier reported that a former Nigerian international, Daniel Amokachi, has lambasted the Nigerian Football Federation as he rallies support for Coach Jose Peseiro.
‘The Bull’ was particularly disappointed by the Super Eagles following their embarrassing 4-0 loss to World Cup-bound Portugal in an international friendly.
Amokachi attributed the Super Eagles' current woes to appointing wrong coaches to handle the team.
