Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh has applauded Senegal coach Aliou Cisse, over the West Africans' qualification for the knockout stage of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Kalidou Koulibaly grabbed the winner, as the Teranga Lions defeated Ecuador 2-1 in a crunch final group game on Wednesday.
Oliseh praised the doggedness of the tactician, who has now led Senegal to the round of 16 at a World Cup for the first time since 2002.
The West Africans also became the first African side to defeat a team from South America at the World Cup since Cameroon overcame Colombia in 1990.

Oliseh said via Brila:
“Wonder coach Cissé at work! Congratulations to Senegal. Well-deserved qualification to the World Cup, in spite of all the injuries to star players like Sadio Mane, Kouyaté."
Cisse’s side went into the game a point adrift of their opponents, but a deserved victory saw them secure the second spot in Group A behind the Netherlands, who beat hosts Qatar in the group’s other game.
Cisse sends message to Mane
Meanwhile, Senegal boss Cisse dedicated the memorable win over Ecuador to Sadio Mane, who was injured while in action for Bayern Munich.
It was initially hoped the former Liverpool star would feature in the global football showpiece, only for further examinations of his injury to see him ruled out of the competition.

Koulibaly, Gueye with England warning
Sports Brief earlier reported that ahead of their second-round showdown at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Senegal stars Kalidou Koulibaly and Idrissa Gueye have fired a warning to England.
The Teranga Lions will face off with the Three Lions on Sunday, December 4 and the Senegalese stars are optimistic.
Senegal finished second in Group A behind the Netherlands to set up a massive showdown with England at the Al Bayt Stadium.
