Alvarez warns Messi

After Argentina beat Mexico 2-0, a video of Argentina players celebrating in the dressing room went viral as Messi was spotted with his feet touching a Mexican jersey.

The video, which has been widely shared on Twitter, shows the Argentine talisman unintentionally pushing a Mexico jersey aside with his foot as he attempts to take off his shoes. while his teammates and staff celebrate.

Alvarez said it was disrespectful for the PSG superstar to step on the jersey, warning him that he hopes he doesn't catch Messi in person after the incident.

Canelo sent several Tweets attacking Messi before the boxer threatened the Argentine icon, according to Fox Sports.

“Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag?” Alvarez's tweeted was translated as saying. "He better pray to God that I don’t find him."

The 32-year-old later added that Messi has to respect his country.

“Just like I respect Argentina, he has to respect Mexico! I’m not talking about the country as a whole, just about the [expletive] that Messi did.”

Canelo has won 58 of his 62 professional fights and remains one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Messi and Argentina celebrate

Sports Brief earlier reported on Messi and Argentina's dressing room celebrating joyously, after a critical win over Mexico.

Argentina returned to winning ways after their 2-1 embarrassing at the hands of Saudi Arabia last Wednesday.

The South Americans still have to play Poland in their final group fixture, knowing that a win could guarantee them the top spot and progression to the next round.

Argentina players were clearly relieved at avoiding a defeat that would have eliminated them from the competition, after footage of post-game celebrations emerged online.
