The former Barcelona captain scored the first goal for Argentina in the 64th minute after as he benefited from an assist by Angel Di Maria.
And in the 87th minute, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner gave an assist for Fernandez to score Argentina's second goal against Mexico.

The assist means Messi is now the oldest player to score and assist in a World Cup game beating the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.
