Jomo Sono believes that Benni McCarthy will be entrenched in FIFA World Cup history.

McCarthy scored Bafana Bafana's first-ever world cup goal against Denmark in France in 1998, slotting the ball past legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel for effect.

Shabalala's strike, on the other hand, need not be relived for it defined Africa's first-ever world cup in 2010.

Speaking to the Daily Sun, 'The Black Prince' said that when talking about McCarthy and Tshabalala, it was referring to legends who excellently represented their country on the global stage.

"Even though they didn't achieve big trophies with Bafana Bafana, scoring the first goals at the World Cup tournaments are great achievements. To represent your country against some of the top players in the world, and still score, is a great memory and I think the players will cherish the moments forever."

Sono famously led Bafana to the silver medal at the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as a credible performance at the 2002 FIFA World Cup as caretaker coach.
