They cheered every time their players were on the attack and booed whenever Poland had the ball, especially Robert Lewandowski.

The passionate fans even had their own players in tears during the rendition of the national anthem.

The fans were extra loud when Lewandowski missed a penalty in the second half of the game. The Polish captain was brought down in the box by Hector Moreno, but saw his effort saved by Guillermo Ochoa.

A colourful collection of fans

It wasn’t only the fans that were loud - their outfits were as well.

The Mexican fans came out in the most colourful of costumes. From Aztec warriors to Lucha Libre wrestlers and beautifully dressed dancers, the Mexican fans brought the fiesta to their opening game.

Mexico face Argentina next

Despite drawing against Poland, the fans were still full of energy. They will have to keep that same energy when their team take on Argentina in their next game.

Argentina will be looking to bounce back from their defeat against Saudi Arabia, and will likely come out all guns blazing.

Ochoa versus Lewandowski: fans celebrate

Guillermo Ochoa is a legend in Mexican football, and his antics against Poland further confirmed that.

The Mexican keeper produced a brilliant save to deny Poland from opening the scoring in their World Cup encounter, Sports Brief had reported.

Polish captain Robert Lewandowski was given a chance to put his side in front, when he was given a penalty in the second half.
