A number of Nigerian fans are wondering why their music stars missed out during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
An enigmatic but colourful ceremony saw Morgan Freeman in Qatar, taking the world through what it should expect during the tournament ending on December 18.
The mascot was both gorgeous and scary, and the stadium was beautiful and yet perplexing, with sensational performances headlining the spectacle of the event.
Nigerian acts Kizz Daniel and CKay were earlier touted to perform during the event, but none of them had the opportunity to grace the stage.

The main vocalist of the Korean pop band BTS, Jeon Jung-kook lit up the Al Bayt Stadium during the event, but no Nigerian act was on stage.
A number of Nigerians since have taken to social media to ask why local performers were not featured as promised.
One noted:
“As Naija no go world cup, see as hommies dey wait for Kizz Daniel's performance, make we use that one hold body 1st.”
Another added:
“As the opening ceremony ended? Thought they said Kizz Daniel will be performing.”
A fan wrote:
“Oh! Did Kizz Daniel perform? That was what I was waiting for oh.. Please did he? Cos I missed some part of the opening, maybe he came later I need confirmations.”

Meanwhile, The Net reports that FIFA earlier confirmed Kizz Daniel would perform at the FIFA Fan Festival event in Doha on November 23.

FootballAward-winning singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, featured in the Qatar 2022 World Cup official theme song titled Hayya Hayya (Better Together), alongside US star Trinidad Cardona and Qatari sensation Aisha.
The track will certainly be played throughout the World Cup competition.
Morgan Freeman speaks at opening
Sports Brief earlier reported that celebrated American movie icon Morgan Freeman made an appearance at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Freeman, alongside Qatari poet Gandem Al Muftau, opened the games with a message of unity, respect and community.
The veteran actor acknowledged the role football plays in uniting people and insisted that in times of segregation, it is time for the world to come together.
