FootballChelsea reportedly another top goalkeeper at the World Cup as Edouard Mendy nears exit door
- Chelsea are reportedly interested in Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford
- This is amid reports that Edouard Mendy has fallen out of favour at the club under Graham Potter
- The club is now looking for replacements in the event the Senegalese shotstopper leaves the club
Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford as the hunt for another goalkeeper looks set to intensify during the World Cup break.
The Blues are searching for a new number 1, after their two current goalkeepers Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy failed to convince Graham Potter.
Potter, a former Brighton manager, prefers a goalkeeper who is comfortable on the ball, and can effectively play out from the back.
Among the preferred replacements are Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and Pickford is the latest to emerge as a target.

As reported on The Mirror, Potter also highly ranks Brentford’s David Raya, but will keep an eye on Pickford during the World Cup.
Raya has also impressed during his time in London, and has attracted interest from clubs across Europe as The Bees continue to have an impressive campaign under Thomas Frank.
Pickford the cheaper option
Despite interest in Raya, it is believed the Spaniard’s price tag is too high, and the Blues might go for a cheaper option in Pickford.
Notably, Pickford has continued to excel for England in the national team despite his form for his club Everton.
For this reason, Chelsea are willing to keep an eye out for him and his performances in the Qatar World Cup.
So far in his career, Pickford has 45 caps since his debut and was instrumental in The Three Lions’ 2018 World Cup run where they reached the semis in the competition.
