Germany National Team Players Set to Donate €1M to Charity Initiative in Nepal After World Cup

Germany will be doing more charity work while participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar following the team’s declaration to support migrant workers in Qatar.

The Germans disapprove of the treatment of migrant workers in the host nation and have therefore decided to show solidarity even while playing at the World Cup.

According to SB Nation, Germany players will now donate €1m to an SOS Children village in Nepal in a bid to support the education of migrant workers or children in Qatar, Manuel Neuer confirmed.

“There are a lot of migrant workers who travel to all countries. Supporting the kids together with the SOS Children’s Villages is a good thing. It’s sustainable because we’re going to do that for the next five years.”

The project the Germans have promised will be an initiative that will last for the next five years after the World Cup.

Germany blasts FIFA for restricting protests

Meanwhile, German football federation president criticized FIFA for its attempts to restrict teams' political activities when it comes to human rights at the World Cup in Qatar, DW reports.

DFB boss, Bernd Neuendorf had said he was prepared to take a fine just to allow Germany to protest at the World Cup after the use of rainbow armband was banned by FIFA.

Rudiger to donate World Cup earnings to charity

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger has pledged to donate his earnings from the World Cup with Germany to charity in Sierra Leone.

The Germany centre-back is known for giving back to the country of his parents and as part of his philanthropic works has decided to help in the fight against congenital clubfoot.

Rudiger through his Antonio Rudiger Foundation, which was set up early this year, has been involved in many charitable works.
