As Portugal head to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, team captain Cristiano Ronaldo has applauded their 4-0 win over Nigeria in an international friendly.
Two first half goals by Bruno Fernandes and a goal each in the second half by Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario condemned the West Africans to an embarrassing defeat.
Ronaldo missed the encounter as coach Fernando Santos confirmed that the embattled Manchester United striker suffered a stomach bug and was left out of the team's World Cup warm-up friendly.
It was a humiliation as Portugal dominated the encounter from the start to the finish and they deservedly won it in style.

After the game, Ronaldo wrote via Sportskeeda:
“Great test of strength yesterday (Thursday) at Alvalade, with our boys showing their full personality. Clear display of talent and ability, one more reason to carry with us all the World's dreams! Wherever, Portugal, always!”
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has finally revealed what he thinks of his long-time arch-nemesis, Lionel Messi. The two players have dominated headlines for the last 16 years, winning every available trophy to them except the World Cup.
They are arguably the greatest players to ever play football and their fans are often involved in divisive debates on who's better.
Messi has won seven Ballon d'Or compared to Ronaldo's five, but Ronaldo has the edge of gracing different leagues and shining in different competitions. He has been at Manchester United twice, at Real Madrid and Juventus.
