Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has cryptically reacted to his double omission from the Argentina squad that will play at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Garnacho was first dropped from the final 26-man squad selected by Head Coach Lionel Scaloni last week.

Two spaces then opened up, following injuries to Nico Gonzalez and Joaquin Correa. Scaloni opted to call up Angel Correa and Thiago Almada, completely snubbing Garnacho.

In all fairness, Garnacho was always going to be an outside pick for Scaloni, considering the amount of talent he has at his disposal in a frontline led by Lionel Messi.

Messi is joined by Lautaro Martinez and Angel Di Maria, who are expected to be the front three in Qatar. From the bench, Scaloni has Erling Haaland's understudy at Manchester City, Julian Alvarez, Paulo Dybala and Sevilla's Papu Gomez to call on.

But Garnacho pushed for a chance late on, after maximising the opportunities given to him by Erik ten Hag. He scored his first Premier League goal from the bench against Fulham to guarantee his side full points.

A Twitter user commented that Garnacho was snubbed because he was Spanish. The 18-year-old liked the tweet before unliking it, but someone had already gotten a screenshot.

Daily Mail reports that Garancho was born to a Spanish mother and represented the country at youth levels. He was also called up for Argentina in March but did not play.

Ten Hag's verdict on Garnacho

Sports Brief had reported that Manchester United Head Coach Erik ten Hag had appeared to call for Alejandro Garnacho not to be included in Argentina's final World Cup squad.

Garnacho has impressed of late, with his latest cameo off the bench resulting in two assists, as United secured progression to the next round of the Carabao Cup at the expense of Aston Villa.

The winger had been waiting to know if he would be part of Lionel Scaloni's side in Qatar. He had been included in the original 55-man squad.
