  • Liverpool is the most affected team on the Premier League table without the Video Assisted Rerefee (VAR)
  • The Reds have had five points gained as a result of VAR decisions, despite their domestic struggles this season
  • Brentford would also see themselves drop from sixth to 10th place in the standings in the absence of VAR

As the Premier League goes into a six-week break to pave way for the World Cup, a look at how the standings would be without the Video Assisted Referee (VAR) makes for interesting viewing.

The controversial VAR is here to stay, but this has not stopped sections of fans from criticising the technology whenever decisions go against their respective teams.

As reported by Daily Star, Jurgen Klopp’s side has gained as many as five points as a result of VAR decisions this season. Without these calls, Liverpool would lie 12th in the league, six places down from their current position.

Manchester United have also benefited from VAR as well and without it, Erik ten Hag’s side would be in sixth place instead of fifth.

Brentford, who are having a dream campaign so far this season, have also been greatly helped by the VAR and without it, they would fall six places from 10th. They have gained three points as a direct result of the VAR’s decisions.

West Ham, on the other hand, who are facing a real relegation threat after 14 games of the season, would really benefit in the absence of VAR as they would gain four points.

Manchester City is another team that would close the gap at the top to three points if VAR calls were removed.

League leaders Arsenal still maintain top spot in the league table without VAR, as Arteta’s men still gain a point without the technology.

Stop winning, Walker begs Arsenal

Sports Brief also earlier reported on a hilarious incident involving Manchester City's Kyle Walker and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

The two were at St. Georges Park before departing for Qatar, after making it into Gareth Southgate's final 26-man squad.

During their interaction, Walker hilariously asked Saka if Arsenal are planning to stop winning anytime soon, to which Saka asked him not to worry.
