Sergio Ramos has released a statement on social media after not making Spain’s final 26-man squad list for the 2022 World Cup.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender was snubbed by Luis Enrique, with the Spanish manager electing to take Eric Garcia, Pau Torres, Aymeric Laporte and Hugo Guillamon as his central defensive options.
According to Football Espana, Ramos has now expressed his regret at missing out on his 5th World Cup appearance, which he confessed was a big dream he had hoped to achieve.
“The World Cup? Of course, it was one of those big dreams I wanted to realise. It would have been my fifth, but unfortunately, I’ll have to watch it at home.”

Ramos will not get an opportunity to add to his 180 caps for Spain at the World Cup, as well as not adding to his trophy haul for the national team that includes 1 World Cup and 1 European championship.
Ramos vows to stay positive
Meanwhile, Ramos has revealed his mentality will not change despite missing out on Spain’s World Cup squad, as he has promised to remain positive, Marca reports.
The PSG defender seems content with the fact that he is getting back to his best, even if it has come too late to make the Spain squad.

Reason why Spain dropped Ramos
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ramos and Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara will miss the World Cup for their country Spain.
The duo were not included in La Roja’s 26-man squad for the tournament starting later this month in Qatar.
However, Spain’s omission of the experienced pair from their final list for the Mundial has received backlash from some quarters.
