Photos Emerge As Statue of German Legend Gerd Muller Unveiled in His Hometown

A statue of legendary Germany forward Gerd Muller has been unveiled in his hometown on Friday, November 3.

Crowds gathered at the ceremony at Nördlingen as part of a football festival celebrating the town’s football icon.

Affectionately known as 'Der Bomber', Muller bagged 68 goals in 62 appearances for Germany, including the winning goal in the 1974 World Cup final.

Muller spent most of his entire playing career at Bayern Munich, making 453 appearances and scoring 398 goals in his 15-year stint at Allianz Arena.

He won won the Intercontinental Cup, three European Cups and a European Cup Winners' Cup as well as the Bundesliga and DFB Cup four times each with the Bavarians.

Muller won the Golden Boot for netting 10 goals at the 1970 World Cup and scored a record 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games and 66 goals in 74 European matches during his 15 years at Bayern.

One of German football's most popular footballers, Muller also had spells with his boyhood club 1861 Nördlingen and Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

He died last year August at the age of 75.

Kroos to end career at Madrid

Toni Kroos doesn’t know when he’s going to retire, but he does know where he’s going to retire.

The Real Madrid midfielder, who turns 33 in January, is contracted to the Spanish club until the end of the season, but Madrid are trying to get him to sign an extension, Sports Brief reported.

With his contract coming to an end, Kroos has toyed around with the thought of retirement but admitted that he does not know when that will be, IOL reported.
