Last season, Kalu made just four appearances in the Premier League, having joined the Hornets from Girondins de Bordeaux.
He has only managed four appearances this term as well - all from the bench - but he is enjoying his time under the new manager.
Bilic said, as per Watford Observer:
“He’s a player that has got more than something. He wasn’t fit when we arrived, he still isn’t fully fit, but he’s got something special: a change of pace, a change of direction, good on the ball. His first touch and movement are good, he strikes a ball well. He’s a very useful player and we are expecting a lot from him.”
Kalu, at the weekend, showed exactly why Slaven Bilic is counting on him.

Sports Brief earlier reported that a former manager at Dutch club Ajax, Adriaan De Mos has expressed disappointment in the quality of Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey.
Bassey left Scottish club Glasgow Rangers during the summer and moved to Amsterdam, where he has struggled to settle in.
De Mos questioned the rationale behind Ajax’s decision to sign the Nigerian international, saying he has nothing to offer.
