Following the conclusion of the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup, where Nigeria finished third, the Flamingos coach Bankole Olowookere has expressed happiness.
Even though the team surrendered their 3-0 lead against Germany to end the play-offs 3-3 in regulation time, the Flamingos eventually took home bronze with a 3-2 win after a penalty shootout.
It was the first time Nigeria made a podium finish at the competition, since making their debut at the maiden edition in 2008.
Celebrating his team’s achievement, Olowookere thanked Nigerians for their support. He said, as per Complete Sports:

Meanwhile, shortly after the victory over Germany, the Nigerian team celebrated in the lobby of their hotel by dancing to the current hit track Cough by Kizz Daniel.

Sports Brief earlier reported that the captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Ahmed Musa has announced a reward of N3million to the Flamingos, following their historic feat at the 2022 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup.
Against all odds, Flamingos finished third, defeating Germany in the third-place play-off to claim bronze on Sunday afternoon.
Having won bronze, Musa announced that the sum of N3million is waiting for the girls as soon as they arrive in Abuja.
