Chelsea had registered a poor string of results, culminating in a shock 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League. His position was immediately taken by former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Graham Potter.

The German tactician is yet to secure another job after deciding to take a break from the dugout. He won the Champions League title with Chelsea, among other cups.

"It is now time for me to take a break. Some clubs have been calling my manager, but we agreed that he would not call me here for these past 18 days," as quoted by Football London.

On his dismissal, the 49-year-old said it came as a surprise.

"I loved every day at Chelsea. It ended too early for me, but it was out of my hands. This is also what you sign up for."

He was recently spotted in India as he continues his sabbatical.

Tuchel would be open to becoming England's manager

Sports Brief earlier reported Thomas Tuchel is exploring the possibility of becoming manager of the England national team in the near future.

This is according to reports from Germany, which claim the former Chelsea gaffer is open to switching to a national team role. Tuchel was sacked by Chelsea a few weeks ago after 100 games in charge, being replaced almost immediately by Graham Potter.

Tuchel, who recently turned down a job offer by Bayern Leverkusen, would take the chance to become manager of the Three Lions if the position opens up.
