Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has rejected Lionel Messi's decision to quit the national team after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Messi, who first appeared for La Albiceleste at the 2006 World Cup, has earlier revealed his decision to bring the curtains on his national team career.
"It's my last World Cup, surely. I feel good physically, I was able to do a very good pre-season this year, which I couldn't do last year. It was essential to get to where I am, with a good state of mind and a lot of hope," the 35-year-old told ESPN Argentina.
Despite Messi's earlier planned retirement from national team duty after the Mundial in Qatar, the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner will have to reconsider his decision with one of his national teammates kicking against the idea.
