"There are moments in life that you don't forget. When my father died, and he knew how important he was to me, he called me. When his mother died, I responded in the same way. These are things that people don't see," as quoted by Sport Bible.

Mourinho made these sentiments in 2021, where he further explained that in as much as it was difficult for managers to have relationships, he and Guardiola tried to keep a close bond while he was in England.

Mourinho's father, Felix Mourinho died on June 25, 2017, while Guardiola's mother, Dolors Sala passed on on April 6, 2022 due to Covid-19.

Mural of Guardiola and Mourinho kissing causes a stir online

Previously, Sports Brief reported there was no doubt that Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are football's most revered managers and have formed part of an intense rivalry over the years.

The two celebrated tacticians have been on opposite ends of the dugouts for over a decade. It is, therefore, right to assume there is no love lost between the two managers and while they may have absolute respect for each other, there is no affection.

That is why a mural of the managers kissing at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona has caused quite a debate online. Fans were treated to a big canvas of Mourinho and Guardiola sharing what seemed to be a passionate kiss.
