FootballAntony Blasted for Doing Flamboyant Spin by Manchester United Legend Paul Scholes
- Paul Scholes has let his feelings known about Antony's flamboyant spin he did during Manchester United's Europa League match
- The United legend called the Brazil winger a "clown" asking him to eliminate showboating in his game
- Manager Erik ten Hag said he has no problem with the spin if it is functional and purposeful
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has lambasted the club's winger Antony for doing the popular spin during United's Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol.
Antony's spin drew widespread groans and cheers from fans on social media, but Scholes was not impressed by the youngster's showboating.
The Brazilian received a pass late in the second half in the right wing, and instead of controlling it normally, his Brazilian aura kicked in, and he did a 720-degree spin.
As fans cheered the flamboyant spin, the winger tried to find Casemiro with a pass, but he did not measure the pass well. The ball went out of play for a goal kick.

Scholes angered by Antony
Legendary United midfielder Paul Scholes was unimpressed by Antony's spin and angrily blasted him on television, according to the Daily Mail.
"This country, any country even Brazil. They don't want to see that do they? I like to see skills and entertainment, I just don't think it's skill or entertainment it's just being a clown."
Although Scholes felt that's what Antony does, he thinks such fanciness should be eliminated from his game.
"I don't know what he's doing. It's just ridiculous. It's showboating. 'He's not beating a man, he's not entertaining anybody, it's 0-0 then he kicks the ball out. That's the way he plays I've seen him do it many a time at Ajax as well and that's just the way he is but I think he needs that knocking out of him."
