  • Robert Lewandowski went into Bayern' Munich's locker and greeted his former teammates after his Barcelona side suffered a 3-0 defeat
  • Barcelona suffered a second successive exit from Europe's premier club competition after an underwhelming campaign
  • Goals from Sadio Mane, Eric Choupo-Moting and Benjamin Pavard ensured Barca exited the competition early

Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski visited his erstwhile teammates in the opposition dressing room after the clash against Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old featured for the Catalans, as they suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Bavarians at Spotify Camp Nou on Wednesday night.

The Poland international fired blank against his former employers for the second time in the Champions League this season, in their dead-rubber Group C clash.

Lewandowski could have scored against his old club however, after he won a penalty following a challenge from Matthijs de Ligt in the first half.

The VAR asked referee Anthony Taylor to review his decision though and after the evaluation, he decided to take away the penalty and rescind De Ligt's yellow card.

The decision denied Barcelona a potential goal before the interval and that led to Julian Nagelsmann's side going in two up at the break.

Bayern were still the superior side in the second half and grabbed a late goal, their third on the night, thanks to Benjamin Pavard.

According to Bild reported Tobi Altschäffl, via Bayern & Germany, Lewandowski went straight into Bayern's locker room to congratulate his ex-teammates.

Lewandwoski sealed a move to the Blaugrana this summer, penning a 3-year contract to end his 8-year relationship with Bayern Munich.

The Pole had forced a move away from the Bundesliga giants after handing in a transfer request, following a falling out with the club’s hierarchy.

Barcelona fans chant for Messi

Sports Brief earlier reported that fans of FC Barcelona chanted for ex-captain Lionel Messi at Spotify Camp Nou, as they watched their side suffer a second successive exit from UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday evening.

The Blaugrana crashed out of Europe's top-tier club competition at the first hurdle again after a disappointing campaign, which produced just one win in five outings.

The five-time Champions League winners had already been relegated to the Europa League prior to kick-off, after Inter Milan demolished Viktoria Plzen in the group's other game on the same day.
