  • Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to send a subtle message to Erik Ten Hag ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Sheriff Tiraspol
  • The Portuguese superstar is in contention to be selected for the game after positive talks with his manager
  • It marks the end of what has been a tumultuous week for Ronaldo since he walked away from the Tottenham game before full time

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo continued to keep his ardent fans on edge as he shared a positive message on his social media.

After a whirlwind last seven days for Ronaldo, he seems to be back in the good books at Manchester United and is well in contention to secure a place back in the starting XI.

Ronaldo, 37, missed United’s latest game, a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, as he served an exile from the first team for walking down the tunnel before full time days earlier in the game against Tottenham Hotspur.

As reported by Daily Mail, it was revealed later by United boss Erik Ten Hag that Ronaldo had actually turned down the chance to come on late in the game on October 19.

All that seems to be in the past now, and Ronaldo is fully focused on his potential next assignment for his club, which is a Europa League game against Sheriff Tiraspol.

Ahead of the clash, the Portuguese international seemed to send a subtle message to his manager via social media, as she posted a photo of himself from United’s latest training session.

In the caption, it read: "Back on track, with the same commitment and dedication as always!"

One has to admire the level of professionalism exhibited by Ronaldo amid a torrid spell that has left his critics wondering whether his legacy as a football player would be tarnished because of the off-pitch drama.

Despite emerging as United’s top scorer last season with 24 goals across all competitions, Ronaldo has struggled not only for game time this campaign but for goals as well.

So far, he has bagged only 2 goals, with one of his strikes coming in the Europa League.

3 key players return for Manchester United

Sports Brief also reported on the return of 3 key Manchester United players from injury in a major boost for Erik Ten Hag.

Right-back Aaron Wan Bissaka, centre-back Harry Maguire and Donny Van de Beek in midfield have all resumed training and are in contention to feature in the next game.

The return of Wan Bissaka and Maguire will be a welcome sight for United fans, who lost Raphael Varane to injury in the game against Chelsea on Sunday.
